چکیده مقاله:

English as an international language is no longer seen as a single unified entity with a clear set of standards for universal correctness and appropriateness; rather standards differ depending on region or locality. Linguistic diversity is counted as a worldwide asset and all peoples have a basic right to maintain their native languages and cultures even in the face of competition from more powerful international languages such as English. Glocalization in English language education obligates learners and teachers to have a deep understanding of benefits, differences and similarities among diverse cultures. Language in relation with context of communication is interrelated with culture in multiple and complex ways . Culture is present whatever the language discussion is. Language learning can be facilitated by having a careful selection of culture related material in textbooks. Textbook evaluation can help both learners and teachers to achieve their goals of language and culture learning. Respectful and welcoming engagement in negotiating values and benefits has its roots in deep cultural structures: religion, history and family. The aim of this descriptive- analytic survey is to go through Prospect Books, English text books in Iran‟s high schools, to investigate the presence of Iranian- Islamic culture such as: religion, history and family life in the words, texts and images of these textbooks. All the words, texts and images of these three books have been analyzed based on these three norms. Findings have shown that cultural standards have been fully considered in words, texts and images
