چکیده مقاله:

Depression, as one of the prevalent psychological difficulties, has been studied in adults from different perspectives. This study studied depression from sensory processing aspect. The aim of this research was to explore the effects of intervention based on Sensory Processing Model on depression in adults. The study was a Repeated-Measures design in one-group of thirty-eight participants. The level of depression was assessed by using PROMIS® Depression Questionnaire. In a screening test, all the participants had reported a higher depression level than the population mean. Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile® was used to explore participants’ sensory patterns and the intervention was applied based on Dunn’s sensory model. To explore the efficacy of the intervention, depression was measured in four time-points including a month before the intervention, right before, sensory immediately after, and a month after intervention as a follow-up test. The results processing intervention had a significant effect on reducing depression between the time-points and depressionshowed that level was significantly reduced immediately after the intervention. This study has implications for mental health professionals to consider sensory processing in individual mental health interventions.
