چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Cancer in human societies is the second cause of death after cardiovascular disease. Cancer is caused by the uncontrollable growth and proliferation of cells. Cancer can develop in almost all cells that can grow and multiply. Acetaminophen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug and some doctors prescribe acetaminophen treatment for tumor patients after surgery. Due to limited studies, in this evaluation the effect of acetaminophen administration on the arginase gene expression in the host and the tumor groups were evaluated. Material and methods: 28 Balb/C mice divided into four groups. First group was healthy control group, second group was tumor control, the third and the fourth groups were under treating by two dosage of acetaminophen. Tumor cells after culture and proliferation were injected to the mice. The rate of tumor growth was evaluated in tumor control group and the groups were under treating by acetaminophen within two months with Real Time RT-PCR technique in the comparison with house-keeping gene. Findings: The results of gene expression in treated group by acetaminophen demonstrated that with the growth of cancer cells, arginase gene expression increases in tumor tissue. In this study, the amount of arginase expression in the treated group increased 7.26 times. Results and discussion: Increase in the arginase gene expression in tumor tissue was observed and statistical analysis showed that acetaminophen administration did not have significant effect on tumor growth.
