چکیده مقاله:

Introduction & Aim: Breast cancer screening is the first and effective strategy method for reducing breast cancer and its prevention. This study has been conducted in 2015 aimed to assess the effect of education intervention on the BSE performance in 2016. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study which was conducted in Gorgan Azad University, 120 female students aged between 35-20 were trained for BSE (Breast self-examination) through standard questionnaire and then they were taught based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) and obtained results were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: With the change of average score of students’ knowledge for BSE education from 6.38 to 12.10, the average attitude score improved from 6.11 to 10.14 and the performance has improved from% 4.82 percent to % 9.63, which indicate that all three states show significant differences (p-value> 5%). Conclusion: To be successful in BSE, as a valuable screening method for early detection of breast cancer,the health belief model has significant positive impact despite its low cost
