The rural women s knowledge and perception impact on breast cancer imaging in Qom province

Introduction & Aim: The current study is going to assess the rural women s knowledge, perception and behavioral practices for breast cancer prevention in Qom. Method and material: A questionnaire of 41 items was developed based on Belief Model constructs. 285 females aged 25 were asked to complete the questionnaire, all of which were living in an old region of Qom province.Results: The results of the study showed that there is a significant difference between perceived susceptibility and severity. Overall knowledge was poor. For logistic regression perceived barriers and yearly clinical breast examination appeared to be significant predictors for regular imaging behavior.Conclusion: Behavioral interventions need to be designed in order to include consideration of specific barriers and clear information on the need for regular imaging.
