Cultural Studies: A Perspective

In recent years, the study of popular culture has received huge attention among the experts and critics. Popular culture is now discussed with more tenderness by scholars in departments, where, previously, the only legitimate culture to be allowed was considered the high or the elite . One of the contemporary fields of criticism, which takes into account the study of the popular culture and its various forms, is cultural studies. The global growth of cultural studies within the academic atmosphere in the past few decades is itself an indication of the increasing significance of the concept of culture in contemporary life and society. Thus, the contemporariness of the cultural studies urges the necessity of studies that aim at shedding light on the development and principles of this intellectual discipline.
