چکیده مقاله:

Background: Excessive social media use is linked to poor sleep quality, increased stress, and maladaptive consumption behaviors. These effects are particularly concerning for immunocompromised patients, including those with cancer, HIV/AIDS, organ transplants, or autoimmune diseases, who already experience heightened physiological and psychological vulnerability. Chronic stress and sleep disruption may further suppress immune function, increase inflammation, and worsen health outcomes. This narrative review examines the effects of reducing social media use on sleep quality, stress, and consumption behaviors, with implications for immunocompromised populations, and provides evidence-based guidance for nurses and medical staff to promote digital wellness.Literature from PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, and Google Scholar (۲۰۱۵–۲۰۲۵) was synthesized, prioritizing systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and interventional studies on social media reduction. Evidence shows that limiting use improves sleep by reducing screen exposure, blue light interference, and cognitive arousal, while lowering stress through reduced negative content, fear of missing out, and social comparison. Structured reductions help break addictive patterns, with potential immune benefits via reduced cortisol and inflammation. Social media reduction is a low-cost intervention, and nurses should screen for excessive use and recommend individualized limits to enhance sleep, stress management, and well-being.
