چکیده مقاله:
Application of Bioactive Biomaterials in Jaw Bone Regeneration Prior to Dental Implant Therapy Based on Recent Advances Successful dental implant therapy depends largely on the quality and quantity of the alveolar bone. Bone defects caused by trauma, periodontal disease, congenital abnormalities, or prolonged tooth loss often require regenerative interventions before implant placement. Recent advances in bioactive biomaterials have significantly transformed bone regeneration strategies by improving osteoconductive, osteoinductive, and, in some cases, osteogenic properties while reducing treatment complications and enhancing clinical predictability. This review aims to evaluate recent developments in bioactive biomaterials used for jaw bone regeneration before dental implant therapy and to discuss their biological characteristics, clinical applications, advantages, and current limitations. A comprehensive review of recent scientific literature was conducted using peer-reviewed articles published in international databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. The reviewed studies focused on contemporary bioactive biomaterials such as bioactive ceramics, calcium phosphate–based materials, bioactive glasses, collagen-based scaffolds, hydrogel systems, and nanostructured biomaterials employed in alveolar bone regeneration. The available evidence indicates that bioactive biomaterials enhance cellular attachment, proliferation, angiogenesis, and bone remodeling while improving the stability of regenerated bone prior to implant placement. Furthermore, recent innovations in tissue engineering, three dimensional scaffold fabrication, and nanotechnology have expanded the therapeutic potential of these materials. Nevertheless, variations in material composition, long-term clinical outcomes, biodegradation behavior, and patient-related biological factors remain important challenges that require further investigation. In conclusion, bioactive biomaterials represent an essential component of contemporary regenerative dentistry and have substantially improved the predictability of pre-implant bone reconstruction. Continued interdisciplinary research integrating biomaterials science, regenerative medicine, and clinical implant dentistry is expected to facilitate the development of more effective and biologically compatible regenerative approaches.
