Establishing schools and universities related to taekwondo in the future for the development of taekwondo in the country

Objective: The objective of the present study is to establish schools and universities related to taekwondo in the future to develop taekwondo in the Islamic Republic of Iran by the year ۱۴۰۵ (۲۰۲۶-۲۰۲۷). Methodology: The research method is descriptive-analytical, falling under strategic studies research, conducted both quantitatively and qualitatively (mixed method). In terms of objectives, it is applied research. The statistical population included ۷۵۰ active male and female referees and coaches participating in the national taekwondo league. Using stratified random sampling and the Cochran formula, ۲۵۴ individuals were selected as the statistical sample. The data collection tools were interviews and a researcher-made questionnaire. Initially, in-person interviews were conducted with officials, coaches, and taekwondo experts in the strategic committee to identify the most important opportunities and threats facing taekwondo talent identification in Iran (Table ۴-۹), using the Delphi method. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by sports management professors and sports talent identification experts. The reliability of the research instrument was obtained using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which was ۰.۷۹ for opportunities and ۰.۷۴ for threats. The data obtained from this questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics such as the Friedman test, with the help of SPSS version ۲۲. Findings: According to the results, establishing schools and universities related to taekwondo in the future to develop taekwondo in the country presents ۹ opportunities and ۹ threats externally. The position of sports talent identification in the Taekwondo Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran lies in the aggressive zone (SO). Nevertheless, all ۱۷ formulated strategies were selected to achieve its long-term mission and goals, and an operational plan was developed for each. Conclusion: Due to the proximity of its position to the conservative zone (WO), taekwondo talent identification in the Islamic Republic of Iran must effectively utilize its opportunities and strengths while also employing strategies from this and other zones to achieve its goals.
