Introduction: University students, as the driving force behind future societies, encounter several psychological and social challenges, including feeling lonely, which may be affected by attachment styles. Loneliness is not only an unpleasant psychological experience, but it can also have grave psychological consequences. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational field study among dormitory college students in Guilan University, with an available sample of ۱۰۰ participants. Instruments used were the Russell Loneliness Scale (۱۹۹۶) and the Revised Adult Attachment Scale (RAAS). Data were analyzed using linear regression in SPSS version ۲۷. Results: Attachment styles have proved to be a potent predictor of student loneliness in this study (R۲ = ۰.۹۹): the insecure anxious attachment style had the most descriptive effect. Conclusion: Such results indicate that the role of attachment styles has a significant value in predicting students' loneliness and that anxious attachment would have the most significant effect on it, which might cause the sensitized mind to feel more loneliness and other psychological problems. These findings illustrate some complexities involved in attachment styles and psychological outcomes, emphasizing the need for mediatory factors and focused interventions for enhancing student mental health.
