چکیده مقاله:
This paper provides a competitive analysis of Iran’s online retail industry using Porter’s Five Forces framework, supplemented by a case-based examination of a focal online electronics retailer. Drawing on market statistics, industry benchmarks, and competitive data extracted from the firm’s internal strategic assessment, the study evaluates the intensity of rivalry, the threat of substitutes, the bargaining power of buyers and suppliers, and the barriers to entry within the sector. The findings reveal that rivalry in the market is exceptionally high due to price-focused competition, low switching costs, and aggressive growth strategies among leading platforms. The threat of substitutes remains moderate, driven by lingering consumer distrust in online transactions and persistent preference for in-person product inspection. Buyer power is strong, amplified by transparent price comparison tools and increasingly price-sensitive consumer behavior under economic pressure. Supplier power is moderate, shaped by currency volatility, import dependency, and regulatory constraints. The threat of new entrants remains present but limited by scale advantages, logistics requirements, and high marketing costs. By synthesizing industry-level forces with firm-specific insights, the analysis highlights key strategic pressures and identifies opportunities for positioning the focal firm more competitively within Iran’s evolving digital commerce landscape.
