چکیده مقاله:
Agriculture is the backbone of the food production cycle and proceeding life is impossible without that. The customary agriculture is unable to fulfill food demand worldwide. Therefore, moving towards mechanized agriculture is crucial, which is more beneficial compared to ordinary agriculture. Agricultural mechanization tries to use technologies and tools instead of labor requirements. However, mechanization should also be developed and involved with new techniques. Artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), etc. are data-driven technologies that can assist in performing automated systems. Nowadays, mechanization shifts towards automated systems, which can do the tasks without the least operator. Hence, this study attempted to assess the available automated systems in agricultural mechanization across the world. To this aim, the required data were gathered from companies which provide automated systems in agriculture. The data obtained were evaluated by considering the type of automated system, function, and the tasks implemented by a system. The findings clarified that there are three main categories of automated systems, namely, automated equipment, multipurpose platforms, and single-purpose platforms. These developed systems can be employed for the purpose of automating existing equipment or as a replacement, and even interchangeably with conventional equipment. In short, the automated systems are all designed to achieve sustainable agriculture, which boosts the efficiency of agriculture and reduces its detrimental effects, particularly on the environment.
