Memes and humorous content on social media have a significant impact on learning English vocabulary. By combining attractive images, short texts, and humor, these contents attract attention and increase interaction. Since these contents are usually informal and related to everyday life, they make learning new vocabulary more natural and enjoyable. Using memes to teach vocabulary, especially slang and frequently used expressions, is effective. For example, a meme on the theme of “daily failures” might use words like fail, epic, or facepalm, which are rarely found in textbooks. This method helps to learn vocabulary in real context and makes the words stick better in memory. The humor in these contents also reduces language learning anxiety. When learners are exposed to funny content, their minds become more open and they absorb new words more easily. In addition, the indirect repetition of vocabulary in various memes enhances learning. However, sometimes there may be some non-standard terms or pronunciations in memes that can be confusing for beginning language learners. However, if used correctly, memes are a powerful tool for enriching vocabulary and strengthening language skills.
