An Overview Of CAR Tcell And Its Applications In Cancer

CAR T-Cells are chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells that fight infection and disease, and fight white blood cells harvested from the immune system and modified in the lab to target and help fight cancer. The goal of CAR T-cell therapy is to redesign our immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. These therapies hold promise for cancer treatment and new clinical trials to develop additional CAR T cell gene therapy products to target other types of cancer such as leukemia, lymphoma, lung, breast and ovarian cancer in adults and cancer in the pediatric population as well as other genetic disorders. As this form of therapy becomes more widely available, detection of interference of CAR T cell products with HIV-۱ NAAT testing in these patients will increase.
