چکیده مقاله:

Lung cancer ranks among the primary contributors to cancer-related mortality globally, with a five-year survival rate of under ۱۵% for affected individuals. The disease is divided into two primary subtypes based on the tumor cell type, with over ۸۵?lling under non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the remainder categorized as small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The discovery of new genetic biomarkers holds the potential to enhance early detection methods for lung cancer, ultimately leading to a decrease in mortality rates associated with the illness. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to exert significant influence on the regulation of target genes. The presence of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within miRNAs has the potential to impact their functionality and expression levels. This study seeks to explore the potential relationship between the miR-۱۹۶a۲ rs۱۱۶۶۱۴۹۱۳ polymorphism and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) within the Iranian demographic. Methods: A case-control study was conducted on a total of ۲۵۰ participants, consisting of ۱۲۵ lung cancer patients and ۱۲۵ healthy controls. The genotyping of miR-۱۹۶a۲ polymorphism was carried out using the polymerase chain-reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method and direct sequencing. Statistical analysis was conducted utilizing SPSS software and the t test method. Results: Based on the results of this investigation, it was determined that there was no statistically significant correlation between rs۱۱۶۱۴۹۱۳ polymorphisms and the susceptibility to lung cancer in the codominant model (CT vs. CC: OR = ۰.۶۷, TT vs. CC: OR = ۰.۷۴, CT + CC vs. CC: OR = ۱.۱۳۳), dominant model (CT+TT vs. CC: OR=۰.۶۵۷), and recessive model (TT vs. CC+CT: OR = ۰.۸۸). Furthermore, no association was found between the clinicopathological features of the patients and the control group. Conclusions: The results of the study suggest that there is no notable correlation between miR-۱۹۶a۲ rs۱۱۶۱۴۹۱۳ polymorphisms and lung cancer within the Iranian population. It is advised that future research endeavors with increased sample sizes be conducted to validate these results.
