The attenuation of coda waves, Qc, has been estimated in the Iran-Iraq border region of west Iranusing a single back-scattering model of S-coda envelopes. For this purpose, the recordings of localearthquakes by the National Center of Broadband Seismic Network of Iran and the Iraqi SeismicObservatory (ISO) have been used. In this research, the frequency-dependent Qc values are estimatedat central frequencies of ۱.۵, ۳, ۶, ۸, ۱۲, and ۱۶ Hz. The frequency-dependent relationship obtained isQc = (۱۰۳±۸) f (۰.۹۰±۰.۰۵). The average Qc values estimated and their frequency-dependent relationshipscorrelate well with a highly heterogeneous and Zagros highly tectonically active region.
