The use of shells in the body of cities as the soul of Iranian structures with Islamic identity

The abundant use of shell forms in Iranian and especially Islamic architecture has caused shell forms to acquire an Islamic identity and be considered as one of the examples of Iranian Islamic identity. The urban structures of the Islamic periods include various types of shell systems. In these works, the originality of the use of shells has been combined with decorative aspects and has created beautiful forms. In the Islamic periods, shells have evolved their form and became common in religious buildings and urban monuments. The historical course and prevalence of shell forms in the cities of Iran, especially in Iran after Islam, shows the religious and symbolic values of these special structural forms to meet the spiritual needs of the people of this land. In this article, in order to approach the ideals of Iranian Islamic architecture, the use of shell structures with an Islamic identity-giving approach to the urban space has been considered
