The association between workers' musculoskeletal diseases and their employment, sports, and leisure activities

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) often have multiple causes and are affected by different factors. A number of studies have demonstrated the role of physical activity in the reduction of various physical and mental diseases and also in physical functioning. The present research aimed to evaluate the relationship between musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and the level of physical activity among the workers at Cement Factory in ۲۰۱۸. This descriptive-analytical study was carried out on employees at cement factory. Data were collected by Nordic and Baecke questionnaire, and then analyzed with SPSS ۱۹ software (t-test, Mann-Whitney, Chi-Square, analysis of variance (ANOVA), Kruskal-Wallis test and univariate logistic model). Workers who suffered from pain in the elbow, hip, and knee regions had presented more work activity. Those with no knee pain had more sport activity. Leisure activity was seen in those who did not feel pain in the waist, hip and knee. And workers without neck pain were engaged in a relatively higher total activity. Our data indicate that overtime and work activity result in MSDs in the neck, and in the elbow and knee, respectively. Moreover, MSDs in the knee, and in the waist and knee, respectively, are relieved through sport and leisure activities.
