Introduction: Health Information Technology (HIT), the use of information technology for health and, in other words, the processing of information by computer hardware and software to store, retrieve, share and use data, information, and knowledge Pay for health care. Nurses can play an essential role in the design, development, and use of HIT with HIT specialists' cooperation. It seems that ICT tools can be used to improve the quality of life and care of the elderly. This study aims to investigate and understand the role of HIT in Improving the quality of nursing care for the elderly.Methods: This search was performed in PubMed, Google Scholar, Science direct databases with the keywords HIT, Quality of care, elderly in the period 2014 to 2020. Articles related to the inclusion criteria of two variables' simultaneous existence (HIT and Quality of care in history Publication 2014 to 2020) and exit (lack of access to the full text of articles) were reviewed.Results: In this study, out of 38 articles reviewed, 25 articles were selected and used after quality review. The use of health information technology in the health care sector is still growing. HIT with a reduction in medication errors and followed by Those adverse drug reactions and improved adherence to treatment guidelines, improve patient safety. HIT can transform care, link nursing care, and patient status, and enhance care quality. Increases better communication and productivity in nursing homes. However, sometimes nurses do not have the necessary flexibility with technology due to their inability to change systems. This can lead to disruptions in work. On the other hand, with increasing concerns about Privacy, The success of HIT depends on the privacy of the patient's medical records.Conclusion: The use of HIT has a significant effect on improving the quality of care and patient safety. It seems that improving the quality of care for the elderly can be done using HIT. Studies have shown that the effects of HIT in the elderly have not been extensively studied, so more studies are needed.
