چکیده مقاله:

Background: Leptin is a protein produced by fat cells and also is main factor in regulating appetite and energy expenditure. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of diet containing olive oil as an herbal extract on serum leptin and thyroid hormones in the rat. Methods: In this study, 30 rats fed a normal diet after 3 weeks, regardless of their gender by rat pellets and carrots to supplement vitamin A were divided into two groups of 15. For 1 month, usual diet control group and the control group received a diet containing olive oil in addition to the normal diet containing 5% olive oil and 2% cholesterol. The blood samples were collected from the rats. Serum leptin and T3, respectively, were measured by ELISA and radio-immunoassay. Cholesterol and triglyceride samples were measured by standard chemical methods. Results: Serum levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the group receiving a high fat diet containing olive oil and cholesterol, respectively, 52% and 95% more than the control group (p<0.001). T3 serum and leptin levels in this group were also inversely related to that is quite natural (r= 0.63 and p= 0.001).Conclusion: These results indicate the effect of high fat diet on the relationship between leptin and T3. In addition, by conducting more experiments in this field can be produced and supplied emotive contains leptin both in humans and in animals that impact on the normal functioning of the body and fat cells and to create an early feeling of fullness in person b commanding the brain to the stomach, will leading to principally and gradually lean the body that many of the currentproblems in the field of diseases like diabetes and fatty liver, which is gripped many people in theindustrialized world, will meet.
