چکیده مقاله:

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.) is a medicinal plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family, which has valuable and useful compounds used in the pharmaceutical and sanitary industry. Nowadays, the study of the essential oil,anti-spasmodic, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties (anti-bacterial and anti-fungal) have been proven. The analysis of thyme essential oil by GC / MS method showed a high concentration of phenolic compounds than other compounds. This indicates the importance of these compounds on the medicinal properties of the plant. In this study, the effect of ultraviolet radiation on the concentration of phenolic compounds of thyme was investigated. The dried aerial parts of the plant were exposed to radiation UV-B (280-315nm) for 18 hours. Then, the total phenol content was measured at 20,100 and 150μl concentration in 3 replicates by the Folin-ciocalteau colorimetric method. Statistical analysis was performed between the data.Total phenol content in UV treatment (mean 205.28) was significantly higher than control (mean 195.45).
