A Comprehensive Review of Cleanup Techniques for Oil Contaminated Soil

Despite the need for oil and its refinery products in today’s life, oil spillage in the seas and coasts has made grave problems for the environment and human beings. Because of the tidal phenomenon and the presence of waves at seas and oceans, the oil spill proceeds to the coast and makes these areas pollutted. Due to the viscosity of crude oil, the oil penetrates into the soil cavities and makes it difficult to be clean. As a result, thinking of fast and effective measures is one of the basic needs in this issue. In this research, the purpose would be to briefly state the classification of crude oil, then concisely point out the weathering of crude oil in the water and soil, and the methods of inactive, manual and mechanical collection and also other methods are presented. It also introduces several adsorbents and methods that have been presented and used by experts. Finally, a general summary of different kinds of technologies for oils and their refineries for contaminated soil is mentioned briefly.
