Advances in Lung Cancer Management and Interventional Pulmonology in Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences

Interventional department of Masih daneshvari hospital is a teaching ward where isaffiliated to National Research Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (NRITLD) of ShahidBeheshti University of Medical Sciences and was established in 1989 by Dr Masjedi & Dr Jabbari.Different kinds of pulmonary interventional procedures are conducted in this departmentunder guidance of Dr.Arda Kiani and Dr.Atefeh Abedini. This department has 5 scientific members,10 nurses and 5 anesthesiology technicians. 3 fellows are training in this department monthly.Interventional department focuses on different procedures including:· Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Trans-Bronchial Needle Aspiration(EBUS-TBNA)· Different kinds of Bronchoscopy· Medical Thoracoscopy/Pleuroscopy· Placing The Stent· Tracheal Balloon Dilation·Cryobiopsy· Chemotherapy Injection· Hot technique: Cauter – APC· Thermoplasty·Management of Foreign Body Aspiration in Pediatrics· Airway Papillomatosis TreatmentAfter completing the aforementioned fellowship in the interventional sub-specialty, thephysicians are permitted to conduct several procedures without direct supervision by the attendingphysicians.On the other hand the research team of our department has published plenty of valuablearticles in prestigious international journals.
