چکیده مقاله:

Background and purpose: Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent and most worrisome health problems in women across the world. There are considerable differences in incidence rates and mortality in different populations. Since having knowledge about breast cancer incidence trends over time is essential for health planning, this study was aimed at investigating variation in the incidence of breast cancer in Tehran.Materials and Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study on data collected from Tehran Cancer Registry System in 2014. The reported incidence of WHO standards are based on the direct method. Results: Of the 8639 cases of cancer, 1237 cases (14.3%) of breast cancer, of which 30 were male, according to the report. The highest age standardized rate was 41.8 per 100,000 women, and the highest age specific rate in the age group of 45-49 years, and the lowest in the age group of 20-24 years. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate an increase in the incidence of breast cancer and a decrease in the age of the disease, which requires more studies regarding the factors affecting the incidence of different ages, therefore, planning for early detection of cancer in high-risk areas would be useful.
