Management of Sentinel Lymph Node Positive Breast Cancer

Originally, a negative sentinel node biopsy (SNB) was intended to identifythose patients for whom axillary lymph node dissection could be omitted. Increasingly,dissection is also omitted for SNB-positive breast cancer. The presenter will review appropriate selection of patients for SNB, processing and reporting of SNB results, the implications of a positive SNB, and evidence favoring the omission of completion axillary dissection in select patients
