Phylogenetic Study of the genus Thalictrum (Ranunculaceae) in Iran

Thalictrum is one of the genera of Ranunculaceae family with about 120-200 perennial herb species in the world.This genus has 6 species and 1 variety in Iran. The genus Thalictrum is very complex species taxonomically and more investigations are necessary in this manner. To infer the phylogeney of Thalictrum we analyzed from two chloroplast fragments ( trnL-trnF) and the nuclear ITS region in Thalictrum species and 3 species of Adonis, Anemon and Consolida as out groups using parsimony and Bayesian methods with PAUP software. The analysis, based on successive reweighting by rescaled consistency index, revealed that Maximum parsimony and Bayesian methods gave very similar results based but the combined analysis recovered most parsimonious trees (L= 690 steps, CI=0.754 , RI=0.827). Finally out groups located in separate clade and Thalictrum species located in another clade. Th. sultanabadensis located in separate clade which confirmed the characterstic of the morphology of its. Also the similarity of two varieties of Th. minus was confirmed
