The Effects Of Total Extract Of Fennel On Liver Cancer Cells In Vitro

Human liver cancer is the fifth most common cancer world wide. Hepatocellular carcinoma is themost malignant tumor with poor prognosis.This cancer is resistant to many common treatments Asa result,a liver transplantation is the only treatment accepted that this treatment limited to theearly presence detection.We assessed Hydro-alcoholic extract of fennel that included Fenchon,Camphene, Limonen, Estragole and Phellandrene. Our studies show that this extract due to itsexisting ethanol is apoptotic activity. HepG2 which secrete a variety of important plasma proteinssuch as anti-trypsin and transferin and ect which is a human liver cell line used due to the absenceof viral infection. HepG2 cells were cultured in 96 plate in concentrations of10,50,200,400,800,1000μg/ml0. The test MTT showed that IC50 total extract of fennel on the cells ofliver cancer , after 48 and 72 hours respectively, 100 and 200 μg/ml. Total extract of Fennel is a plantmaterial with toxic effects on the cells of the liver cancer. Future studies need to investigate themechanisms of cytotoxicity and anti-cancer effect of this extract is in vitro and in vivo.
