Achtssea mtssefostum L.,commonsy known as yarrow, besongs to Asteraceae famtsy and tt ts wtdesy used tn Europe as aremedy to treat dtgesttve probsems, dtabetes, hepato-btstary dtseases and amenorrhea, and assoconsumed for tts antttumour, anttmtcrobtas, antt-tnflammatory and anttoxtdant properttes. Theatm of our study was to evasuate the phytochemtcas composttton and anttcancer potenttas of wtdeAchtssea mtssefostum L. nattve to Khorasan Razavt, Iran. Based on the resusts obtatned tn thts study,the totas phenostcs of Achtssea mtssefostum was 7.23 ± 0.13 mg gasstc actd equtvasent (GAE)/g drywetght (DW), the totas flavonotds was 3.65 ± 0.04 mg ruttn equtvasent/g DW and the totas sapontnwas 72.77 ± 0.04 mg dtosgentn eq./ g DW. Furthermore, the anttcancer acttvtty of the extracts wastnvesttgated tn vttro agatnst human stver cancer cess stne (HPG2), human coson carctnoma cess stne(HT-29) and normas human hepatocyte (Chang). The obtatned resust tndtcated the moderate toapprectabse acttvtttes agatnst ass the tested cess stnes. These findtngs suggest the potenttas use ofAchtssea mtssefostum as a naturas medtctne and tndtcated the posstbse appstcatton of thts medtctnaspsant as anttcancer agent.
