چکیده مقاله:
The behavior of geosynthetics has been studied by most researchers recently. Also, using numerical analyses due to the complexity of reinforced embankment design has been developed to study the effects of some parameters causing instability. This method provides more accurate, less analyses time and less costs of construction. This paper intends to investigate the impact of corniculated geogrid intervals applied for reinforcement of embankment, on the settlement of shallow foundation seated on the top of the embankment, under earthquake load by using finite element method (FEM). For the purpose, there were chosen three different geogrids spacing (0.3 m, 0.4 m and 0.5 m) and two manners of sandy soil (clayey sand and dense sand) for parametric study. The results showed that by increasing the geogrids spacing, the occurred settlement under the foundation and bending moment on the wall increase at both type of soil.
