The experimental fire of flat head projectile into ballistic gel

Determining the amount of destruction and the intensity ofinjuries are both important and critical issues. Also, havinga good understanding and full knowledge of the process ofthe penetration of rigid projectile into living targets can helpdesigners in offensive and defensive points of view. In thisresearch a total of 4 shots were fired. The shots were firedusing flat head projectiles at different velocities. Also tosimulate the penetration of a projectile into gelatin, thesoftware requires the equation of state and the modelingcoefficients of the gelatin. Therefore, the mechanicalproperties needed for the simulation were determined usinga number of mechanical tests on the gelatin specimensincluding Split-Hopkinson pressure bar and the quasi-staticcompression tests. Finally, the process was simulated usingfinite element software, and the effects of differentparameters on the process were discussed.
