چکیده مقاله:

Previous studies have reported antitumor activity of garlic (allium sativum L.) essential oil andMonascus purpureus extract. This study aimed on compression of the cytotoxic activity ofmold extract with nanocarriers containing mold extract, and garlic essential oil with itsnanocarriers. So we evaluated possible synergic effect of two nanocarriers. The calorimetricMTT assay based on the selective ability of MCF7 cell line to reduce 3-[4,5-dimethyl-thiazol- 2-yl]-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide into formazan was adapted for measuring cytotoxicity ofmentioned nanodrugs. 4 different nanocarriers were prepared by β-cyclodextrin andmaltodextrin with spray drying and frize drying method. Analyses of cell survival by MTTassay showed that for garlic, β-cyclodextrin nanocarrier prepared by spray drying method, byinducing 94% cytotoxicity of MCF7 cells, Significantly was most active than garlic essentialoil that reported previously. About mold extract, maltodextrin nanocarrier prepared by spraydrying method, by 80% cytotoxicity induction was Significantly more cytotoxic than moldextract. Although the cytotoxic activity of other garlic and mold nanocarriers were nearlysimilar to prior reports for crude extract and essential oil. Nanocarriers loaded byCombination of garlic essential oil and mold extract contrary to expectations didn’t showsynergic effect and its cytotoxic activity was less than each of them separately. Altogether, this study suggests that the use of nanocarrier made of proper compounds and method, canstrengthen cytotoxic activity of garlic essential oil and Monascus purpureus extract. This basestudy can followed by nanocarriers targeting and drug delivery aspects, to decrease ofunfavorable systemic effects of anticancer drugs.
