RANS simulations of unsteady separated flow using the k- ω- υ2-f Model

The objective of this work is to apply the RANS approach with the − f υ2 turbulence model to the solution of the flow around a square cylinder and over a surface mounted cube. For the cube case, none of the previously published numerical predictions obtained by steady-state RANS produced a good match with experimental data. Its presence demands unsteady RANS computation because the flow is not statistically stationary. A − f υ2 model based on the standard k- ω model and referred to as k- ω- 2υ − f model is applied which has numerically appealing boundary condition for ω. The model is then validated and the results obtained are discussed and a qualitative comparison with the experimental data is made. The results are in good agreement with the experimental data.
