Artificial Intelligence in Technology Management: Applications, Opportunities, Strategic Impacts and Challenges

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology in Technology Management by enhancing organizational decision-making, operational efficiency, and system-level integration. This study reviews the applications of AI across cognitive decision support, operational workflows, and AI-based system architecture while examining the opportunities it creates for productivity, innovation, digital transformation, and human-AI collaboration. The paper further discusses the strategic impacts of AI on organizational competitiveness, technology planning, and data-driven management, highlighting the increasing importance of organizational readiness and enterprise-wide AI implementation. In addition, it addresses key challenges associated with AI adoption, including organizational resistance, technical complexity, explainability, ethical concerns, governance, and the emergence of autonomous AI systems. The review also identifies a research gap regarding the absence of an integrated framework that connects AI applications, opportunities, strategic impacts, ethics, and governance. The findings emphasize that sustainable AI-driven Technology Management requires responsible governance, transparency, and effective human oversight. This study employs a narrative literature review approach by synthesizing recent empirical and conceptual studies on AI in Technology Management. The finding highlights the importance of organizational readiness, responsible AI governance, and continuous human oversight for sustainable AI implementation.
