چکیده مقاله:

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has emerged as one of the most practical architectures for building reliable, knowledge-grounded AI systems. By combining a large language model (LLM) with an external retrieval mechanism, RAG agents can access up-to-date, domain-specific, or proprietary information at inference time rather than relying solely on knowledge frozen into the model’s training data. This essay explains what a RAG agent is, how it works, and why it has become a preferred approach for enterprise and personal AI applications. It examines the core benefits of RAG — factual grounding, reduced hallucination, cost efficiency, and adaptability — while also addressing its limitations and the design considerations that determine whether a RAG system performs well in practice.
