Cognitive Digital Twin in Food Cold Chain: Current Progress, Challenges, and Future Perspectives

This review paper discusses the application of Digital Twin (DT) and Cognitive Digital Twin (CDT) technologies in food cold chain system to identify the state of the research, technological functions, current challenges and research perspective. The systematic literature search has been performed. The related selected articles have been analyzed according to application area, technologies, advantages, constraints and research and application prospect. It can be concluded that DT has already extensively studied in food supply chain management and monitor while the application of DT in cold chain system is not so prevalent. Very few works have reported the application of Cognitive Digital Twins in food cold chain system so far, indicating a gap of the research. Though some challenges need to be faced, CDT provides a prospective prospect in food cold chain research and application.
