چکیده مقاله:

Background: Raising a child with hearing loss places substantial emotional, psychological, and social demands on parents, particularly mothers who often assume the primary caregiving role. Continuous caregiving responsibilities, concerns regarding the child's communication, education, and future independence may adversely affect maternal psychological adjustment. Although resilience and anger control have consistently been identified as important determinants of psychological adaptation, the psychological mechanisms through which these factors contribute to maternal adjustment remain insufficiently understood. Self-compassion has recently emerged as a protective psychological resource that promotes emotional regulation, adaptive coping, and psychological well-being under stressful circumstances. Objective: The present study aimed to investigate whether self-compassion mediates the relationships between psychological resilience, anger control, and adjustment among mothers of children with hearing loss. Methods: This cross-sectional correlational study recruited ۹۲ mothers of children with hearing loss from rehabilitation and educational centers in Sanandaj, Iran. Participants completed the Self-Compassion Scale (Neff, ۲۰۰۳), Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Buss–Perry Aggression Questionnaire (Anger Control dimension), and Bell Adjustment Inventory. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to evaluate the proposed mediation model. Results: Psychological resilience and anger control demonstrated significant positive associations with maternal adjustment. Self-compassion significantly mediated the relationships between resilience, anger control, and adjustment. The structural model showed acceptable goodness-of-fit indices, indicating that self-compassion partially explained the influence of resilience and anger regulation on maternal adjustment. Conclusion: Self-compassion appears to be an important psychological mechanism through which resilient characteristics and effective anger regulation contribute to better adjustment among mothers of children with hearing loss. Developing interventions that strengthen self-compassion may improve psychological adaptation and overall well-being in this vulnerable population.
