چکیده مقاله:
While the emergence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in academic writing raises concerns about authorship, integrity, and fair evaluation practices, current artificial intelligence (AI) detection methods continue to rely on surface features that lead some authors to be disappointed. As a result, the authors offer a solution by developing an Agency-Based Editorial Rubric. The purpose of the rubric is to move the focus from fluency-based suspicion and toward signs of authorial agency, including the authorship of the conceptualization of ideas, critical use of sources, data anchoring, authorial control over the argument, and testing of aims against the methods and claims of the work. The rubric is developed based on synthesized findings of recent studies in the field of GenAI-generated texts, academic guidelines, and editorial practice. It provides editors and reviewers with tools to make better and more conscious decisions about quality and ethics in GenAI-enabled writing and clarifies the difference between GenAI use as malpractice and the level of author’s control over the paper.
