چکیده مقاله:
Background: Anxiety symptoms are among the most common psychological health problems and may negatively affect emotional well being, daily functioning, sleep quality, and overall quality of life. Although pharmacological and psychological treatments are commonly used for anxiety management, exercise training has received increasing attention as an accessible and non pharmacological approach for reducing anxiety symptoms. Regular physical activity may influence anxiety through physiological, psychological, and neurobiological mechanisms, including improved stress regulation, enhanced self efficacy, and modulation of neurotransmitter systems. Understanding the role of structured exercise training in reducing anxiety symptoms is important for developing effective mental health and lifestyle based interventions. Methods: This study was conducted as an integrative review of experimental and clinical studies examining the effects of exercise training on anxiety symptoms. Relevant literature published between ۲۰۰۵ and ۲۰۲۵ was identified through searches of PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Eligible studies included children, adolescents, adults, or older adults with elevated anxiety symptoms or anxiety disorders who participated in structured exercise programs such as aerobic training, resistance training, mind body exercise, or combined physical activity interventions. Primary outcomes included changes in anxiety symptoms measured by validated psychological scales, while secondary outcomes included depressive symptoms, stress, sleep quality, physical fitness, and quality of life. Results: The reviewed evidence suggests that exercise training can produce meaningful reductions in anxiety symptoms across different populations. Aerobic exercise, resistance training, and combined exercise programs were associated with improvements in psychological well being and stress regulation. Mind body activities such as yoga and tai chi also showed beneficial effects on anxiety, particularly when performed regularly and under supervision. Some studies indicated that higher adherence and longer intervention duration may be associated with greater improvements in anxiety outcomes. Conclusion: Exercise training appears to be a practical and beneficial non pharmacological strategy for reducing anxiety symptoms and improving overall mental health. Structured and regular exercise programs may support emotional well being, sleep quality, and quality of life. Future research should focus on identifying optimal exercise type, intensity, frequency, and duration for anxiety reduction in different populations.
