چکیده مقاله:

Background: The integration of innovative technologies in nursing education has gained increasing attention in recent years. Virtual reality (VR), with its interactive and immersive features, represents a promising approach to enhance the quality of learning experiences for nursing students. Understanding the effects of VR on educational outcomes is crucial for developing effective and modern nursing curricula. This review aims to examine the impact of virtual reality on the quality of education among nursing students, focusing on knowledge acquisition, clinical skills, learner satisfaction, and engagement. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science for articles published from ۲۰۱۵ to ۲۰۲۴. Keywords included 'virtual reality,' 'nursing education,' 'simulation,' and 'learning outcomes.' Studies assessing VR interventions compared to traditional teaching methods in undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education were reviewed. Data were synthesized regarding improvements in theoretical knowledge, practical skills, student motivation, and perceived self-efficacy. Results: Evidence suggests that VR-based education leads to significant improvements in knowledge retention, clinical skill performance, and critical thinking ability compared to traditional methods. Nursing students report higher levels of engagement, motivation, and satisfaction when exposed to VR simulations, particularly in complex clinical scenarios (e.g., emergency, pediatrics, and critical care). VR enables safe, repetitive practice without risk to real patients, promoting confidence and competence. However, barriers such as high implementation costs, technical challenges, and the need for faculty training exist. Studies also emphasize the importance of integrating VR as a supplement, rather than a replacement, for existing teaching strategies. Conclusion: Virtual reality is a valuable complementary tool for enhancing the quality of nursing education. It supports the development of both cognitive and psychomotor skills, increases student engagement, and prepares learners for real-world clinical environments. Future research should focus on cost-effectiveness, long-term outcomes, and optimizing VR integration in diverse nursing programs.
