چکیده مقاله:

As individuals age, they often experience impairments in physiological and cognitive functions, such as memory decline. Additionally, weaker physical strength is associated with lower cognitive levels. In this context, some studies have highlighted the role of exercise interventions and physical activity in enhancing learning and memory performance in older adults. Therefore, the present study aims to comprehensively examine the impact of resistance training on the working memory of older adults. This study is a review that was conducted by searching for the keywords 'resistance training,' 'working memory,' and 'older adults' in both domestic and international search websites. The research underscores the necessity of resistance training to improve the working memory of elderly men and women. Moreover, activities utilizing body mass for resistance, functional training, Tai Chi, and aerobic exercises have also shown significant effects on the working memory of older individuals. Based on the current findings, regular resistance training and physical activities positively and significantly enhance brain function and executive performance in older adults. Therefore, engaging in these exercises is recommended for the elderly population.
