Artificial intelligence and education: The prospect of the future

The world is changing at a great speed and one of the components of this change is artificial intelligence and the use of this intelligence in different fields by different sciences. The increasing availability of artificial intelligence and related tools and technologies has made it possible to apply artificial intelligence in real-world settings. Like different areas of life, the field of education is witnessing the increasing use of artificial intelligence. However, its scope and related challenges remain unclear. Issues yet to be addressed facilitating student learning and changing the role of the teacher as a facilitator. Key challenges involve the lack of human connection, ethical issues such as data privacy and lack of inclusion and equality for students from marginalized backgrounds. Despite the wide range of issues and challenges to be addressed, we conclude that the role of artificial intelligence in education will increase in the future. Recommendations are made for practice and research.
