Introduction: A rapidly aging population is a global concern and it is expected that the number of elderly people with cancer increase in parallel It is worth mentioning that elderly cancer patient s condition may be complicated by non-cancer related disorders and age related condition in comparison to youngsters, which can make geriatric oncology face many challenges Therefore, the role of palliative care, as a personalized health care approach, in cooperation with geriatric oncology becomes more prominent to manage symptoms and improve the patient's quality of life even in patients who experience limited life expectancies.Materials and Methods: A review of the relevant medical literature was conducted.Results: Age can make cancer treatment more challenging and complex for older adults in comparison to youngsters due to some problems such as co-existing disease conditions, cognitive problems, and frailty .In addition, aging can be accompanied by pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics alterations, which can subsequently lead to changes.in the response to cancer treatments. Therefore, it is important to provide palliative care in the course of treatment for this category of patients, to alleviate the probable complications caused by the main treatments and improve the quality of life of patients even with a lower life expectancy.Conclusions: Cancer treatment approaches, especially in the elderly, can be more effective when they are accompanied by palliative care approaches To this end, the participation of treatment staff, researchers, policy makers, civil society, caregivers, and patients is prominent and essential Indeed, such a partnership highlights the need for more scientific studies, training palliative care specialists, and awareness for patients, care givers, and society, which can be achieved in the context of a detailed planning.
