چکیده مقاله:
: Lung cancer is the most common type of cancer and a leading death cause is leading death in both men and women around the world. This cancer is categorized into small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and Non_small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The SCLC type is an aggressive form of this cancer caused by common mutations in genes such as RB۱ and TP۵۳. In addition, this type of lung cancer is accompanied by alternations in tumor-modifying genes that lead to epigenetic disorders that help in relationship. On the other hand, NSCLC is the most common type of lung cancer, accounting for approximately ۸۵% of all lung cancer cases moreover its main subgroups include squamous cell carcinoma of the lung (LUSC) and adenocarcinoma of the lung (LUAD). LSD۱ (Lysine-specific demethylase ۱), also is known as KDM۱A, is an important epigenetic regulator and a histone demethylase enzyme, which plays a significant role in regulating gene expression by removing methyl groups from histones. Many compounds such as ORY-۱۰۰۱, Sanguinarine, and WS-۳۸۴ are effective on treating lung cancer via inhibiting the LSD۱ gene. Method: This review study has been conducted by using international scientific databases and banks including: Google Scholar, NCBI, and PubMed, through title search method. The last ۵ years articles have been evaluated in this search, and also the LSD۱, KDM۱A and Lung cancer have been used as keywords. Result: According to the evidences obtained from these articles, as the overexpression of LSD۱ in cancer cells, such as lung cancer cells, suppresses tumor suppressor genes, such as TP۵۳, and activates oncogenes, such as RB۱ so it is concluded that inhibiting LSD۱ gene in these cancer cells and preventing its expression, can have a positive effect on the treatment of lung cancer, so this is clear that gene inhibitors LSD۱ (KDM۱A), which inhibit this gene, can be used as an effective therapeutic method in the treatment of lung cancer patients. Conclusion: Considering all these researches, there is still a need for more studies and experiments in this field to make a definite conclusion and determine, whether the use of these inhibitors does bring side effects for the patients under treatment. Also are these treatments performed in this manner permanent or temporary? All these things are still debatable.
