The Effect Of Metalinguistic Explanation On Writing Ability Of Extroverted And Introverted Iranian EFL Learners

Experts agree that giving feedback improves writing quality and language use. However, the question that if the various personality traits of students can change the efficiency of a particular type of feedback has not been explored yet. In doing so, this study is conducted to explore whether CF can be useful for Iranian EFL learners of varying personality types. Based on NEO-FFI personality questionnaire, participants of each group are divided into extroverts and introverts in experimental group A and B, respectively. Moreover, there is a control group the students of which were not determined if they are extroverted or introverted. There were ۴۵ participants within this research study from an Institute in Ardabil. The students are all male at the age of ۲۰ to ۲۵; moreover, all of them enjoy upper-intermediate English proficiency level. First, they take IELTS writing Task ۲ exam as their pre-test and post-test. Consequently, the results illustrated that extroverted students could outperform the introverted students regarding writing.
