چکیده مقاله:

The spatially varying earthquake ground motion (SVEGM) has significant effect on the dynamicresponse of embankment dams. In this study, the effects of SVEGM on the dynamic responses of twoembankment dams are evaluated. In this paper, the effect of differential support motions on theseismic response of Marun embankment dam, constructed in south west of Iran, is investigated. Thespatially varying earthquake ground motion model includes both incoherence and wave-passageeffects. The incoherence effect is examined by using three different coherency models for thesimulation of artificial ground motions. The motions generated by Abrahamson model gives thehighest horizontal displacement response which is close to that due to uniform ground motion. On thecontrary, for input motions generated based on the Novak coherency model the lowest horizontaldisplacement response is resulted.
