Steel shear walls are a common structural system used to resist lateral loads in buildings. They aretypically made of thin steel plates that are stiffened by ribs or other members. In recent years, there hasbeen interest in using X-shaped stiffeners to improve the performance of steel shear walls. This studycompares the performance of steel shear walls with and without X-shaped stiffeners and concretepanels. A finite element analysis was used to model the behavior of the shear walls. The resultsshowed that the shear walls with concrete panels had a higher shear capacity and stiffness than others,whereas, shear wall without stiffeners had more ductility. The results of this study suggest that shearwalls with concrete panels (CPCSW) can be effective in improving the performance of steel shearwalls.
