Investigation of miRNAs expression usingblood plasma from PCa patients

Prostate cancer (PCa) is a common malignancy that mainly occursin elderly men. PCa diagnosis is currently based on serumPSA test and/or abnormal digital rectal examination (DRE) andhistopathological evaluation of prostate biopsy. As existing diagnosticmethods lack sufficient accuracy and sensitivity, thereis a need for new biomarkers that can distinguish between indolentand aggressive pathology and reduce the risk of overdiagnosis/overtreatment. Therefore, it seems that finding biomarkersin biological fluids is an effective method for cancerdiagnosis.Method and Results: First, microarray data (GSE۲۰۶۷۹۳) with۱۵۲ blood samples were analyzed to identify miRNAs that haddifferent expressions between healthy and cancer patients. Afteridentifying the miRNAs that were differentially expressed(such as has-mir-۴۷۸۶, and has-miR-۶۷۷۶-۵p) their interactionwith genes was investigated by the mirwalk website (http://mirwalk.umm.uni-heidelberg.de/search_mirnas/) and the genemirRNAsinteraction network was drawn with Cytoscape software.Conclusion: Identifying the miRNAs involved in PCa helps tointroduce appropriate diagnostic and treatment methods
