چکیده مقاله:

Background: Nigella sativa, commonly known as black seed,is a plant belonging to the Ranunculaceae family with extensiveuses in traditional medicine. This plant can survive in variousclimates and has a high tolerance for diverse environmentalconditions. It has different compounds which reveal diverse biologicalproperties. One of the reported properties of this herbis its anticancer activity. This study aims to explore the anticancereffects of Nigella sativa (black seed) oil extract from theSemirom variety on the MCF-۷ cell line.Materials and Methods: In this study, Nigella sativa oil extractsfrom Semirom variety were prepared with weights of۱%w/v, ۳%w/v, ۵%w/v and ۱۰%w/v. The anticancer effects ofthe reported amounts were examined using MTT and Neutralred uptake assays on the MCF-۷ cell line. The tests were performedin totally sterile conditions. Results: Several attempts have been made to conduct testsunder standard conditions. The MTT test results showed thatweight values greater than ۵%w/v affected the MCF-۷ cellline and significantly decreased relative to the control group.(P<۰.۰۰۱) In addition, the NRU test results demonstrated theinhibitory effect of weight values greater than ۵%w/v on theMCF-۷ cell line, which was significantly different from thecontrol group. (P<۰.۰۰۱)Conclusion: The results of this research demonstrate the antitumoractivity of Nigella sativa (black seed) oil extracts ofSemirom variety on the MCF-۷ cell line. Therefore, the resultsindicate that this agent can be used as a cancer treatment.
