چکیده مقاله:

Background: Regarding cutaneous malignant melanoma(CMM), survival studies would be more appreciative due tothe growing trend of incidence worldwide. Here, we aimed todetermine the survival trend in patients suffering from CMMconsidering various demographic and tumor characteristics.Materials and Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study,۵۷ patients with confirmed melanoma were included from April۲۰۱۴ to February ۲۰۱۹. Using the Kaplan-Meier method andLog-Rank test, a correlation between survival probability andmultiple factors with prognostic potential, e.g., gender, age, tu- mor thickness, mitotic rate, anatomical sites, and chemotherapy, were assessed. Results: Out of ۵۷ patients, ۳۳ patients (۵۷.۹%) were male, and۲۴ patients (۴۲.۱%) were female, with a mean age of ۵۹.۵ ±۲۲.۷ years. In addition, the mean survival was ۴۳ ±۱۵ months, ranging from ۱۵ to ۸۲ months. Regarding tumor thickness, ۲۶patients had ۱ to ۴ mm, ۱۸ patients ۵ to ۱۰ mm, and ۵ patients۱۱ to ۳۰ mm. Mitotic rate in ۱۹ patients was ۱-۲ mm۲, while in۳۲ patients was ۳mm۲≤. Infiltrated lymphocyte was also positivelyreported in ۳۶ patients (۳۶.۶%). In the case of treatmentintervention, ۵۵ patients received chemotherapy. According tothe results of the Kaplan-Meyer test, the mean survival did notshow a significant difference (P<۰.۰۵). Moreover, a profoundcorrelation was not found between survival rate and differentage groups, mitotic rate, thickness, lymphocyte infiltration, andchemotherapy. Conclusion: Despite a higher survival rate among females withCMM, it was not statistically significant. Furthermore, therewas no association between survival rate and assumed prognosticvalues.
