The Moderating Role of Body Image Concern in the Relationship between the Use of Visual Media and Internalizing of Pathological Symptoms in Adolescent Girls and Boys

Aim was to investigate the moderating role of body image anxiety in the relationship between the use of visual media and internalizing of symptoms in adolescents. Descriptive-correlational design method and multi-stage sampling method of ۳۰۰ adolescent girls and boys who used Instagram social pages were selected from ۱۴-۱۶ year. Collection tools included Littleton (۲۰۰۵) Fear of Body Image, Goodman Adolescent Strengths & Weaknesses (۱۹۹۷), researcher-made questionnaire on visual media use. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version ۲۲. Results showed that body image anxiety has a moderating effect on the relation between visual media and internalization of pathological symptoms.
